Sanku is an award-winning social enterprise based in Tanzania. Our mission is to end malnutrition through our innovative technology and business model. Our technology adds precise amounts of life-saving nutrients into maize flour as it is processed. Our business model lets small millers fortify their flour at no added cost to themselves or their customers while providing us with revenue to cover our costs, and eventually, our growth. We reach millions of people across East Africa every single day and are rapidly scaling, with the ambitious goal of reaching 25 million people by 2025.

You will work closely with the DoD to:

  • Manage Sanku’s day-to-day social media activity, creating compelling content, providing great community management, and using analytical tools to drive performance through data and insight.
  • Collaborate with the rest of the development team to create compelling donor facing messaging and satisfy donor visibility requirements.
  • Guide the East African project team to obtain quality photographs, videos and beneficiary stories.
  • Identify opportunities to increase Sanku’s visibility (press releases, speaking opportunities etc.).
  • Assist with updating and maintaining Sanku’s website.
  • Draft key external written and visual communications (one-pagers, blogs, videos, impact stories, quarterly/annual reports, and email news blasts).
  • 3 years’ communications experience in an international nonprofit environment (preferably related to nutrition).
  • Strong social media skills (accuracy, layout, presentation) and knowledge of management / tracking platforms (experience of WordPress a plus).
  • Excellent writer, editor and proofreader with the ability to adapt writing style to different target audiences.
  • Experience of developing engaging visual and narrative content.
  • Proven ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and flexibility.
  • Excellent project management skills.
