Fundraising Development

To build on RCETs recent success which has seen a significant increase to its voluntary income. In particular you will lead on on delivering and stewarding up to six figures from Trusts & Foundations.  You will also be responsible for creating and delivering long term growth in unrestricted income particularly from public facing income streams such as Individual Giving and Community and Corporate Fundraising.

You will also be responsible for leading and developing a Communications strategy which will help the organisation to increase its reach, both with beneficiaries and supporters.

You will also manage all elements of the Fundraising and Communications operations including the line management of the Fundraising & Communications Assistant.

  • Deliver and build on the 20-23 Fundraising Strategy and make changes as appropriate to accommodate the current circumstances as a result of Covid-19.
  • Line manage the Fundraising & Communications Assistant, and any future roles within the Department.
  • Develop plans to increase unrestricted income through Individual Giving, Community, Digital and events fundraising.
  • Secure and steward up to six figure grants from Trusts and Foundations.
  • Lead on developing a Communications Strategy which will help increase RCET’s reach with both beneficiaries and donors.
  • With support from the CEO, lead and deliver a re-branding exercise.
  • Responsibility for the management of all aspects of the Fundraising & Communications operations including policies, procedures and systems such as our database.
  • Create, deliver and own fundraising campaigns that will excite and motivate donors to support RCET and our work across Scotland.
  • Ensure that annual fundraising targets are met or exceeded and that expenditure is kept within agreed budgets. Monitor and report on income and expenditure as required.
  • Maintain and grow existing supporter relationships and provide an excellent supporter experience across all income streams.
  • Support the services teams to evaluate their work in line with agreed funder aims.
  • Develop a stewardship programme to cultivate medium/major donor relationships.
  • Work with RCET’s appointed agency to develop a consistent suite of publications including fundraising materials.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure that RCET maintains and grows its external profile through social media and PR.
  • Responsibility for all external communications including our quarterly newsletter and all mass email communications via MailChimp
  • Attend and actively contribute to team meetings.

Degree or relevant professional qualification, or substantial work experience.
Experience of working in a fundraising environment.
Proven experience of creating successful funding proposals.
Experience of operating an Individual Giving programme.
Experience of creating and delivering persuasive funding proposals.
Experience of using a fundraising database.
Familiar with packages such as Outlook & MS Word
Familiar with MailChimp, Buffer, Facebook & Twitter

Knowledge of fundraising regulations and an understanding of fundraising codes of practice
Working knowledge of GDPR
Experience of Line Management
Understanding of the issues affecting Armed Forces Children and Young People and their families
Member of the Institute of Fundraising
